Description
Product overview
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial-derived peptide Open reading frame within 12S rRNA type-c) is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded by the mitochondrial genome (12S rRNA). MOTS-c is a mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP) that has been studied in vitro for its roles in cellular metabolic regulation, AMPK pathway activation, glucose metabolism, and mitochondrial–nuclear communication. Avanti Peptides supplies MOTS-c as a lyophilised solid for stable, reproducible mitochondrial and metabolic biology research.

Reconstitution & storage
- Before reconstitution: Store lyophilised vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light and moisture.
- Equilibrate: Allow vial and diluent to reach room temperature before opening.
- Reconstitute: Add Bacteriostatic Water (10 ml recommended). Swirl gently — do not vortex.
- After reconstitution: Store at 2–8 °C. Prepare aliquots to minimise freeze–thaw cycles.
- Compatibility: Use only within protocols that comply with your institution’s SOPs and local regulations.

About MOTS-c in research
Researchers use MOTS-c to study mitochondria-to-nucleus retrograde signalling, AMPK-mediated metabolic regulation, glucose homeostasis, and the emerging biology of mitochondria-derived peptides. As a peptide directly encoded by the mitochondrial genome, MOTS-c provides a unique tool for investigating the role of mitochondrial peptidome in cellular energy regulation and metabolic disease pathways.
Synthesis & quality assurance
Avanti Peptides manufactures MOTS-c via controlled, validated solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) to deliver high purity and lot-to-lot consistency. Each batch undergoes identity verification, HPLC purity analysis (≥99%), and appearance inspection before release.
